You may know this Island by its other name, Lefkada, which means White Island, but whatever you choose to call it if it’s relaxing, traditional Greek holiday that you’re looking for then look no further.

It is linked to the Greek mainland by a causeway and with its mountainous chalky cliffs, beautiful green vegetation and spectacular beaches, should really be on your list of places to visit if you want to sample true Greek character coupled with traditional charm. The nightlife on Lefkas is not really what you come here for, but what is on offer is quite cosmopolitan, especially when it can boast such visitors as Tom Hanks and Naomi Campbell who are alleged to have been spotted in one of the upmarket harbour side bars. With two famous sailing centres on offer and numerous windsurfing spots this tiny Island still has plenty to offer.

Take a boat trip and explore, sail past the island of scorpios, owned by the Onassis family and once used as their family home, or get onto the water and give one of the many water sports on offer a go, windsurfing is very popular.
